As I pulled into the driveway, a smoke cooker was right in the middle of the parking space of our garage. I asked my father out of curiosity "what was that"! He turned back and said "A brand new cooker"

It was the first time i ever seen one. That day was an exciting moment to try something new. My dad's friend told him to try and make smoked meat.  After I walked into the messy kitchen, I could smell different spices from spicy pepper red paprika, chopped garlic, garlic salt, and sea salt. There was a huge bloody meat on the kitchen counter. I asked him " which animal is laying dead" he laughed and said "chuck meat which is from cow". My dad continued to rub mustard with his bare hands all over the meat to keep the spices from falling. I thought my dad was doing random things, but even so, my family couldn't wait to stuff the meat inside their craving mouths. Going back to the garage, my dad prepared the smoked cooker. He put agave wood, large bowl of water over it, then he out the strong scented meat inside. The cooker was prepared to about 460 degrees. After 8 long hours of waiting and starving, the cooke cooled down and it was time to take out the freshly cooked smoked meat. As we opened up the lid, smoke rushed through my face rapidly for a short period of time. My dad and I sniffed it hard, trying to get a glimpse of what it's gonna taste. At a far distance, sweet and salty smell was around the whole kitchen. My mom sliced the meat carefully and smoothly.

"It's time to feast" my We all took thefirst bite and all I could think about the was the chuck meat. After the satisfying meal, we all went down to scrub down the smoke cooker. It was a fuss to prepare and clean, but worth the time to make. My dad said to me in a proud manner " The harder you cook, the better tasting it will be". We continued to smoke chuck meat and different other varieties of food from chicken to vegetables, basically anything that was delicous on the dinner table. Every month, this is a meal we all enjoy!

First Time Treat

As I pullled into the driveway, a smoke cooker was right in the middle of the parking space. I asked my father out of curiosity " What was that"! He turned back and said "A brand new cooker"

It was the first time I ever seen one. That day was an exciting moment to try something new. After I walked into the messy kitchen, I could smell different spices from spicy pepper to red paprika, garlic and all that good stuff. There was huge bloody meat on the counter. My dad was rubbing mustard all over it with his bare hands to keep the spices attached to it. I thought he was doing random things to it, but my family and I could'nt wait to stuff smoked meat into out wet mouth. Going back to the garage, my father prepared the cooker to about 460 degrees. He stuck the meat inside and we waited, checking on it every hour. After 8 long hours, it was time to feat as a family. We could smell the meat from a distance. My mom sliced the meat smoothly and carefully. This was the first meal I had along with my brothers.

I took my first bite and all I could taste was the gush of so much flavors inside my mouth. We contined to make smoke meat every special occasion since it took alot of preparation to make. This is what makes it special, the time we spend as a family on just meat.

Roots and Recipe

What food would you be describing?
The food that I would be talking about is Smoked Meat.

What are some special memories it has for you?
I remember the time that my Dad came home with a Smoker which was a cooker used to slowly cook or smoke food. The first time that he used it, he smoked large meat. My dad put in the very flavored meat after assembling it. It took 6-8 hours to cook. It took a long time but it was worth the wait. I usually get to eat this kind of food like once per 2 months since it was very expensive, alot of preparation and time to make this.

What are some sensory details that will help bring the food “to life” for your readers?
The time and prepation used to make this kind of food is interesting. It also took alot of ingredients to make the meat very delicious. The ingredients used to give taste was salt, pepper, paprika, and other flavor items. The smoker we also very frustrating to prepare because we had to use certain wood and to start it burning.

Who will you be interviewing about your food?
The person that I will be interviewing is of course my father. He was the first to do something like this in my family.
